Multiple redirects (301/302) before reaching the final URL. Slows crawling and can dilute link equity.
Common causes
- Chain of redirects from old URL structure.
- www to non-www to another path.
- HTTP to HTTPS to trailing slash.
How to fix
- Redirect directly to the final URL.
- Update internal links to point to final URL.
- Use Redirect Chain Checker to detect chains.
